Why therapy? Therapy can bring about positive, long-lasting changes in the way people feel about themselves and others. Therapy can also help people deal with everyday life’s challenges. Common issues include anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, anger, and difficult relationships. Sometimes, the cause of these issues may be easily identified; other times, it may be less obvious. My goal is to help you determine the cause of your troubles and learn strategies for dealing with them.
How does it work? In therapy, you can learn to make better choices, feel more optimistic, turn goals into realities, discover fresh opportunities, and find a sense of calm in the day-to-day. While struggle is universal, the approach to therapy varies from person-to-person. For some, it may focus on dealing with daily experiences. For others, it may emphasize exploration of the past.
The relationship should be comfortable. Research shows that the match between the client and the therapist is one of the best predictors of positive outcomes. Finding a therapist with whom you feel comfortable is important. I want you to feel good during our work but also confident and hopeful when our work is done. Effective therapy means that you apply the insights you have gained and the changes you have made to other areas of your life.
